BISCO® A2 Fiberglass Reinforced Sound Barrier is a VMQ silicone sound barrier with an embedded fiberglass reinforcement layer, available in three areal densities — 0.20, 0.31, and 0.61 lb/ft² per ISO 2286-2 — with Shore A hardness of 62 per ISO 868 and temperature stability of -58°F to 356°F. The material passes FAR 25.853a flammability, FAR 25.853 (a-1) (AITM 2.0007) smoke density, and FAR 25.856 (a) (AITM 2.0053) flame propagation resistance. The material resists burn-through from flames up to 1038°C (1900°F) and achieves a flame spread index of <5 per ASTM E 162, with a continuous service temperature range of -55° to 200°C (-67° to 392°F) per SAE J 2236.
