Butyl Tape (Poly-Seal®)
Butyl seam tape is the material of choice when roofing, HVAC, and enclosure sealing applications require a permanently flexible, moisture-impermeable seam bond that accommodates substrate movement and temperature cycling without cracking or losing adhesion. Butyl’s isobutylene-isoprene chemistry provides near-zero moisture vapor transmission, permanent flexibility across a wide temperature range, and aggressive adhesion to metal, membrane, and coated substrates without primer in most applications. H-O Products carries the full Poly-Seal® butyl tape family, from aluminum-faced and straight butyl grades through coating-ready, TPO seam sealing, and hip-and-ridge variants, and converts them to customer specification.
Poly-Seal AF
Poly-Seal AF is a single-sided modified butyl duct joint and general-purpose mastic sealant constructed with 15–16 mils of butyl adhesive on a 2 mil aluminum foil backing, for a total thickness of 17–18 mils ±0.5. Engineered for HVAC duct sealing on a 40-year service cycle, it carries an extensive set of compliance credentials: UL 723 Pass, NFPA Class 1 (90A and 90B), SCAQMD Rule 1168 VOC pass, ASTM E84 flame 20 / smoke 40, and 0 g/L VOC per EPA Method #2. Performance-tested at 20" w.c. pressure with peel adhesion >10 pli, tensile strength 955 psi minimum, and full bond within 15 minutes.

Poly-Seal CR
Poly-Seal CR is a single-sided pressure-sensitive modified butyl sealing tape constructed on a DuPont Sontara® polyester non-woven fabric backing, supplied at 25–29 mils total thickness with 25 mils of butyl adhesive. Designed for a 30-year service cycle, the Sontara® non-woven backing is paint-receptive — accepting epoxy or water-based paints and weatherized coatings — making the tape "coating ready" for custom finishing on metal roofs and exposed seams. Performance includes >10 pli peel adhesion, 790 psi minimum tensile strength, ASTM E84 Flame 15 / Smoke 15, SMACNA pressure-class rating, and Seal Class A. VOC is 0 g/L per EPA Method #2.

Poly-Seal PE-801
Poly-Seal PE-801 is a single-sided modified butyl sealing tape constructed with 32–36 mils of butyl adhesive on a 2.0 mil black high-density water-resistant polyethylene (HDPE) backing, for a total thickness of 34–38 mils. Designed as a hip and ridge sealant for tile and roof applications, it delivers ≥10 lbs/pli peel adhesion, ≥700% elongation, and immediate aggressive grip with full bond within 24 hours. Asphalt-free and solvent-free, the tape provides leak-proof results across an operating range of −20°F to 180°F.

Poly-Seal SB
Poly-Seal SB is a double-sided modified butyl sealing tape — 31–32 mils of butyl material between two release liners, with no carrier, for a total thickness of 31–35 mils. The unsupported construction allows the butyl to flow into voids for a positive seal between two mating surfaces. Peel adhesion is >10 pli with 445 psi average tensile strength, watertight aggressive grip after 1 hour, and full bond within 24 hours. Operating temperature spans −20°F to 180°F. The product is asbestos-free, CFC-free, and PCB-free.

Poly-Seal TPO
Poly-Seal TPO is a single-sided modified butyl seam sealing tape constructed with 18.5–22.5 mils of The Gray Matter™ enhanced formula butyl sealant on a 6.5 mil thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) backing, for a total thickness of 25–29 mils. Engineered for HVAC, skylight, and exterior trim sealing, it delivers ≥10 pli peel adhesion, 680 psi average tensile strength, and 900% average elongation. UV resistance is excellent, and the tape passes Xenon-arc weatherometer testing at 0.70 W/m². Service temperature spans −40°F to 180°F.
