EV Battery Thermal & Fire Barriers

EV battery thermal and fire barriers are the material of choice when cell-level thermal runaway containment in battery modules and packs requires a material that combines UL94 V-0 flame resistance, thermal isolation, and mechanical compliance in a single compressible layer that rigid ceramic barriers cannot provide. ProCell™ EV Firewall silicone composite delivers thermal runaway containment performance for battery pack firewall applications, absorbing and blocking heat propagation while conforming to module geometry under assembly compression. H-O Products carries ProCell™ EV Firewall Barrier and converts it to customer specification.

ProCell™ EV Firewall Barrier

ProCell™ EV Firewall Barrier is a specially formulated cellular silicone elastomer designed to delay thermal runaway and temperature spikes within electric vehicle battery packs, available in thicknesses from 0.059" to 0.118" with a density range of 24.97–44.76 lb/ft³ per ASTM D1056. It achieves a compression set of 3.0% at 22 hours @ 212°F @ 50% per ASTM D1056, a dielectric strength of 6.1 kV/mm, and a thermal conductivity of 0.15 W/m·K at both 122°F and 392°F per ASTM D5470. The material meets UL 94 V-0/5VA (certified for 0.118" or thicker, tested at a 3rd party lab).
