    • Weep baffling in commercial and residential construction where the highest air flow and most open pore structure in the uncoated reticulated series is required to allow moisture and condensation to weep freely
    • General filtering applications inside extrusions and cavities not exposed to UV or sunlight where coarse filtration of insects, dust, and drafts is required
    • NEMA enclosure and generator or compressor housing ventilation where maximum air flow with minimal restriction is the priority
    • Moisture infiltration barriers in building envelope assemblies where a highly permeable open cell foam spacer or baffle is specified
    • Draft and air infiltration seals in doors, windows, and access panels where the lowest compression resistance in the uncoated reticulated series is appropriate

Common industries: construction, fenestration, HVAC, electrical enclosures, industrial equipment.

The 10 PPI Uncoated Reticulated Foam is the most open-pore grade in H-O Products’ uncoated reticulated foam series, with a nominal cell count of 10 ppi and the highest volumetric air flow rate in the series at 25.5 cfm ±4.5. It is a compressible polyether polyurethane foam designed for general filtering applications, weep baffling in commercial and residential construction, and use inside extrusions and cavities not exposed to UV or sunlight.

Its open skeletal structure allows moisture and condensation to weep from the building while minimizing the infiltration of drafts, moisture, insects, and dust.

Per the TDS note, the Crest visual PPI standard is the industry accepted nomenclature for defining reticulated foam pore size; however, the air flow is the only quantifiable value for determining PPI for published specifications, and the only exception allowed is if visual PPI is agreed as a standard in advance prior to order submission.

Density is 1.4 lb/ft³ ±0.10. Compression force deflection at 25% is 0.30 psi minimum. Compression set at 50% deflection is 15% loss maximum. Tensile strength is 5 lb/in minimum with a dry heat loss maximum of 15%. Elongation at break is 100% minimum. Tear strength is 2 lb/in minimum. Air pressure drop is 0.15 ±0.05 per ASTM D3574-91. Autoclave compression set loss is 15% maximum and 25% compression load deflection autoclave loss is 30% maximum. Flame retardant is available by special request.

No compliance standards are specified on the manufacturer’s TDS for this material.

What differentiates the 10 PPI Uncoated grade from the 20 PPI, 30 PPI, 45 PPI, 60 PPI, and 80 PPI uncoated grades?

The 10 PPI grade has the largest pore size and highest volumetric air flow rate in the uncoated series at 25.5 cfm ±4.5 — above all higher-ppi grades. Its large pore structure provides the least resistance to air and moisture flow, making it the appropriate choice when maximum weeping and ventilation are the priority. Its tensile strength (5 lb/in minimum) and tear strength (2 lb/in minimum) are the lowest among the fully specified uncoated grades, reflecting the more open skeletal structure at this pore count.

Why is compression force deflection important for an uncoated reticulated foam used in weep baffling and filtration?

Compression force deflection determines how readily the foam compresses to fill a cavity or extrusion under installation force. The 10 PPI grade has a CFD of 0.30 psi minimum at 25% — the lowest among the fully specified uncoated grades — meaning it compresses easily under minimal force to conform to its cavity and seal the perimeter while its open skeletal structure allows air and moisture to pass freely through the foam body.

What is the service temperature range for the 10 PPI Uncoated Reticulated Foam?

A specific service temperature range is not stated on the manufacturer's TDS for this material. Aging performance data includes tensile strength dry heat loss of 15% maximum per ASTM D3574-91 and autoclave aging performance per ASTM 3574-91 and ASTM D3574-91.

Is the 10 PPI Uncoated Reticulated Foam suitable for regulated environments?

No compliance standards are specified on the manufacturer's TDS for this material. A flame retardant formulation is available by special request. The standard uncoated grade is for use in applications not exposed to UV or sunlight, as stated on the TDS.

How should the 10 PPI Uncoated Reticulated Foam be specified?

Specify grade (10 PPI Uncoated Reticulated Foam, Foam Grade T-10), thickness, color (Charcoal Gray), compliance requirements if applicable, dimensional tolerances, and finished format. Per the TDS, air flow is the only quantifiable value for determining PPI for published specifications.
