Its fine, uniform cell structure supports consistent mechanical performance across its available thickness range of .024″–.125″. The material is stearate free, eliminating surface contaminants that can impair adhesive bonding and providing superior adhesive anchorage for converted tape and laminated constructions.
The foam delivers high tensile strength — 190 psi lengthwise and 140 psi crosswise per ASTM D-3575 Suffix T — and excellent elongation of 340% lengthwise and 300% crosswise. Tear resistance is 32 pli lengthwise and 21 pli crosswise per ASTM D-3575 Suffix G. Compression resistance at 50% deflection is 19 psi, and compression set is less than 10%, among the lowest in the ClipFoam series. The material is both chemical resistant and water resistant, and its service temperature range of -110°F to 180°F supports thermally demanding environments.
What differentiates the 5# ClipFoam™ from the lower-density 3# polyolefin grade?
The 5# ClipFoam™ is the higher-density polyolefin alloy grade at 5 pcf, with a compression resistance of 8 psi at 25% (vs. 6 psi for the 3#) and a compression set of less than 10% (vs. less than 20% for the 3#).
