- EMI/RFI shielding gaskets for commercial and industrial electronic enclosures requiring UL 94 V-0 flame retardancy and higher mechanical rigidity
- Replacement for discontinued GORE® GS 5200 shielding gasket in existing designs
- Conductive elastomeric seals for applications requiring simultaneous EMI shielding and ASTM E595 outgassing compliance
- PSA-backed shielding gasket strips for rapid installation on panel and chassis interfaces requiring a firmer gasket cross-section
- Flame-retardant conductive seals in electronics assemblies operating from -60°C to 220°C where higher tear resistance is required
Common industries: Electronics, telecommunications, aerospace, defense, industrial equipment.
502-60-V0 is a flame-retardant, UL 94 V-0 compliant grade within the 502-series of nickel-coated graphite filled conductive silicone elastomers, designed for EMI/RFI gasketing applications where flammability performance is required alongside electrical conductivity.
It is the higher durometer of the two V-0 grades, at 60 Shore A (55–65 range), and is available in sheet stock or continuous rolls with or without conductive PSA, in thicknesses from 0.010 in. to 0.250 in. depending on configuration. The material is black in color and is identified on the TDS as a commonly used replacement for the discontinued GORE® GS 5200 shielding gasket product.
Shielding effectiveness of >117 dB (20 MHz–10 GHz, E-field) was measured third party at a MIL-DTL-83528 listed laboratory — three decibels higher than the 502-40-V0 grade. The UL 94 V-0 flammability rating is validated and certified internally for every batch and validated externally by an accredited facility — reports are available upon request.
The material has been tested in accordance with ASTM E595 outgassing requirements both with and without conductive PSA applied; test data is available upon request. Shelf life for cured material is indefinite; cured material with PSA applied at shipment has a shelf life of up to 12 months.
Compliant with UL 94 V-0.
What differentiates 502-60-V0 from 502-40-V0?
502-60-V0 is the firmer of the two V-0 flame-retardant grades at 60 Shore A (55–65 range), with a higher tensile minimum of 150 psi (versus 100 min for 502-40-V0), a higher Tear "B" typical of 70 ppi (versus 35 ppi), and a tighter volume resistivity typical of 0.3 ohm-cm (versus 0.5 typical for 502-40-V0). Shielding effectiveness is >117 dB versus >114 dB for 502-40-V0. It replaces the discontinued GORE® GS 5200 versus GORE® GS 2100 for the 502-40-V0.
Why is compression set critical for this material?
As a conductive elastomeric shielding gasket material, 502-60-V0 must maintain intimate contact with mating surfaces to sustain both electrical conductivity and shielding effectiveness of >117 dB throughout its service life. Compression set resistance ensures the gasket does not permanently deform under sustained closure load, preserving the conductive interface over time. No compression set value is listed on the TDS for this grade.
What is the operating temperature range for 502-60-V0?
The thermal stability range for 502-60-V0 is -60°C to 220°C as listed on the TDS.
Is 502-60-V0 suitable for flame-rated environments?
Yes. 502-60-V0 is compliant with UL 94 V-0. The flammability rating is validated and certified internally for every batch and validated externally by an accredited facility — reports are available upon request.
How should 502-60-V0 be specified?
Specify grade (502-60-V0), thickness, PSA option (with or without conductive PSA), compliance requirements (UL 94 V-0, ASTM E595 outgassing), dimensional tolerances, and finished format.
