Common industries: Automotive, HVAC, electronics, industrial manufacturing, lighting.

60-HTA is a high-temperature, automotive grade, closed-cell PVC foam with single-sided water-based acrylic PSA, formulated to conform to GMW 17408 Class II Type III (interior/exterior applications) and GMW 17408 Class IV, Type III.

Available in four thicknesses including a 3/4″ option not available in the 100-HTA grade, it is designed for applications requiring both flexibility and strength in automotive, general industrial, HVAC, interior cabin and exterior lighting, and ATM electronic applications. It is positioned as an ideal alternative to EPDM, Neoprene, PVN, and NBR for applications requiring UV stabilization, chemical resistance, and elevated temperature performance.

The product is sulphur free to eliminate fogging and low VOC to eliminate outgassing, and remains pliable at temperatures of -30°F to 230°F.

60-HTA is the lowest-density and softest grade of the two GMW 17408 PVC foam grades, at 4.8–7.2 lb/ft³ and Shore 00 20, with the lowest compression deflection in the HTA series at 1.39 psi at 1 minute, 50%. Elongation is 289% — the highest in the HTA series. Compression set is 11.98% and aged resistance is 6.2% — no test methods are listed on the TDS for either value. Adhesion to stainless steel is >350 N/m. Ozone resistance and solvent compatibility both pass. Water absorption is 3% per ASTM D1056. Service temperature is -30°F to 230°F.

Compliant with GMW 17408 Class II Type III, GMW 17408 Class IV Type III, and GMW 3232 (Flammability, Pass).

What differentiates 60-HTA from the 100-HTA GM High Temperature PVC Foam?

60-HTA is the lower-density, softer grade of the two GMW 17408 HTA grades at 4.8–7.2 lb/ft³ and Shore 00 20, versus 100-HTA's 9–13 lb/ft³ and Shore 00 35. Compression deflection at 1 minute, 50% is 1.39 psi compared to 3.32 psi for 100-HTA, and compression set is 11.98% versus 21.42%. Elongation is 289% versus 283%. The 60-HTA TDS explicitly states a service temperature of -30°F to 230°F — no service temperature is listed on the 100-HTA TDS. The 60-HTA is available in 1/16", 1/8", 3/16", 3/4"; the 100-HTA is available in 1/16", 1/8", 3/16", 1/4" — the 3/4" gauge is exclusive to 60-HTA and the 1/4" gauge is exclusive to 100-HTA in this series.

Why is compression deflection important for a high-temperature automotive PVC foam used in conformable sealing applications?

For soft, low-density automotive gaskets and seals that must conform to irregular surfaces under minimal closure force, compression deflection determines how easily the foam achieves full contact with the mating substrate. At 1.39 psi at 1 minute, 50% — the lowest in the HTA series — 60-HTA provides the greatest ease of compression, allowing it to fill surface irregularities and maintain a continuous seal with the lowest applied closure force of the GMW 17408 grades. The compression set of 11.98% also indicates meaningful dimensional recovery over time, supporting long-term sealing integrity.

What is the service temperature range for 60-HTA?

The service temperature range is -30°F to 230°F as listed on the TDS. The product remains pliable at temperatures of -30°F to 230°F as stated in the product features.

Is 60-HTA suitable for regulated automotive environments?

Yes. 60-HTA is formulated to conform to GMW 17408 Class II Type III (interior/exterior applications) and GMW 17408 Class IV, Type III, and passes GMW 3232 flammability, as listed on the TDS.

    How should 60-HTA be specified?

Specify grade (60HTAPVCF), thickness (1/16", 1/8", 3/16", or 3/4"), color (Black), adhesive type (water-based acrylic PSA, single sided), applicable compliance requirements (GMW 17408 Class II Type III, GMW 17408 Class IV Type III, GMW 3232), dimensional tolerances, and finished format (sheet, slit roll, or die-cut component).
