AZ-TPS GR 100 is an AeroZero® polyimide aerogel-based thermal protection film construction combining a graphite outer layer, a polyimide aerogel core, and a silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive bonding layer into a single ultra-thin laminate. The construction is designed for thermal barrier and heat-spreading applications where low added weight and minimal thickness are required, and its low density of 0.70 g/cm³ supports use in weight-sensitive assemblies.

The film delivers a thermal conductivity of 0.053 W/m·K and is rated to a 305 °C (580 °F) glass transition temperature, with heat resistance exceeding 1000 °F (538 °C) and a decomposition temperature (10 wt% loss, TGA) of 470 °C (878 °F). The silicone PSA layer, protected by a release liner until application, provides a 180° peel adhesive strength greater than 300 N/m (1.7 lbf/in) to aluminum foil after a 3-day room-temperature dwell, and the construction bonds to stainless steel, aluminum, glass, carbon fiber, and polymer substrates such as polyimide, polyurethane, and polyester. Compliant with UL94 VTM0 (TM-0 flame-retardant rating).

What differentiates AZ-TPS GR 100 from other AeroZero® thermal protection film constructions?

AZ-TPS GR 100 combines a graphite outer layer with an AeroZero® polyimide aerogel core and an integrated silicone PSA bonding layer in a single ultra-thin (267 micron / 10.5 mil) laminate. This construction delivers a low thermal conductivity of 0.053 W/m·K and heat resistance greater than 1000 °F (538 °C) while remaining thin and lightweight enough for direct adhesive application, eliminating the need for a separate bonding step or mechanical fastening.

Why does thermal conductivity matter in material selection for AZ-TPS GR 100?

Thermal conductivity determines how effectively the film insulates and spreads heat across a substrate. At 0.053 W/m·K, AZ-TPS GR 100 provides a low-conductivity thermal barrier in a thin, lightweight format, making it suitable for applications where both thermal insulation and minimal added thickness or weight are required.

What is the service temperature range for AZ-TPS GR 100?

    AZ-TPS GR 100 is rated to a 305 °C (580 °F) glass transition temperature, with heat resistance greater than 1000 °F (538 °C) and a decomposition temperature (10 wt% loss, TGA) of 470 °C (878 °F).

Is AZ-TPS GR 100 suitable for flame-rated environments?

    Yes. AZ-TPS GR 100 carries a UL94 VTM0 (TM-0) flame-retardant rating.

How should AZ-TPS GR 100 be specified?

Specify grade (AZ-TPS GR 100), thickness, adhesive/liner type, bond surface substrate, compliance requirements, dimensional tolerances, and finished format.
