AFTC 8303
AFTC 8303 is a 0.009″ thick double-sided acrylic foam tape built on a closed-cell acrylic adhesive foam core with permanent closed cell acrylic adhesive on both faces and a red PE liner. Sharing the elevated thermal profile of the 8302 grade — long-term resistance to 248°F and short-term to 374°F (+100°C to +160°C) — it is designed for bonding molded parts and surfaces in high-temperature environments where a white tape is required. It delivers a 90° peel adhesion of 16 lb/in.

- Thin-profile bonding of molded components to glass and glass/epoxy substrates in elevated-temperature environments
- Adhesive attachment of parts to anodized and coated aluminum where service temperatures exceed 212°F and white tape color is required
- Low-profile bonding of small components to stainless steel and galvanized steel in thermally demanding assemblies
- Double-sided mounting of lightweight parts to coated aluminum in automotive or industrial near-heat-source applications
- Permanent adhesive joining to galvanized steel and coated metal substrates requiring UV resistance, aging resistance, and high-temperature performance

AFTC 8303 is a 0.009″ thin double-sided acrylic foam tape designed for bonding lightweight, thin, and small components to glass, metal, and coated substrates in high-temperature service environments. The construction uses a closed-cell acrylic adhesive foam core with a red PE liner. AFTC 8303 is the white-color counterpart to the gray AFTC 8302, sharing the same elevated thermal rating — long-term resistance of 248°F and short-term resistance of 374°F (+100°C to +160°C) — that sets both grades apart from the standard ultra-thin series.
The tape provides excellent UV resistance, aging resistance, and solvent resistance alongside its high-temperature performance. A minimum bond-line pressure of 14.5 psi applied by hand roller or mechanical presser is required. IPA is recommended for lightly to moderately contaminated surfaces; heavily contaminated surfaces require MEK, Heptan, or Acetone followed by an IPA wipe. Raw aluminum must be abraded before bonding to remove embedded processing oils.
Primer is recommended for low surface energy substrates including polymers, powder-coated metals, and porous materials, reducing cure time from up to 72 hours to approximately 20 minutes. Shelf life is 18 months stored in original packaging between 39.2°F and 100.4°F.
What differentiates AFTC 8303 from AFTC 8302?
AFTC 8303 and 8302 are identical in thickness (0.009"), adhesive construction, liner type (Red PE), and all performance values including the elevated thermal ratings. The sole distinction is color: 8303 is White and 8302 is Gray. Select 8303 when white tape color is required for visibility matching or aesthetic reasons in high-temperature assemblies.
Why is peel adhesion important when selecting this tape?
For thin tapes operating in elevated-temperature environments, peel adhesion confirms that the adhesive system maintains bond integrity under both thermal stress and mechanical loading. For AFTC 8303, the 90° peel adhesion of 16 lb/in — the highest in the thin/ultra-thin AFTC series — confirms that the high-temperature formulation delivers strong interfacial bonding alongside its elevated thermal resistance.
What is the operating temperature range for AFTC 8303?
AFTC 8303 has a minimum temperature resistance of −40°F, a long-term temperature resistance of 248°F, and a short-term temperature resistance of 374°F (+100°C to +160°C).
Is AFTC 8303 suitable for exterior or UV-exposed environments?
The TDS rates UV resistance, aging resistance, and solvent resistance as Excellent, in addition to high-temperature resistance. No specific regulatory compliance standards are listed on the TDS for this material.
How should AFTC 8303 be specified?
Specify grade (AFTC 8303), thickness (0.009"), color (White), compliance requirements, dimensional tolerances, and finished format.
