AFTC HA7308
AFTC HA7308 is a double-sided heat-activated acrylic foam tape with a 0.031″ thick closed-cell acrylic foam core and 90° peel adhesion of 12 lb/in. The tape pairs a hotmelt film adhesive for bonding extruded EPDM and TP rubber seals with a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive, rated for continuous service at 248°F and short-term exposure to 374°F. Excellent UV and solvent resistance make it suitable for demanding bonding and sealing environments.

AFTC HA7308 is a medium-gauge grade within the H-O Products AFTC heat-activated tape family, engineered for bonding applications that require a heat-activated permanent bond on one side and a pressure-sensitive bond on the other. The hotmelt film adhesive is inactive at ambient temperature and activates under heat, melting into extruded EPDM or thermoplastic rubber seals to form a strong, permanent joint.
The opposite pressure-sensitive acrylic face uses the same adhesive system as the Automotive AFTC series, delivering immediate tack against clean substrates.
The tape is constructed on an uncoated acrylic adhesive foam core with a density of 52 lb/ft³ and a closed-cell structure that supports dimensional stability under load. It offers excellent UV resistance and excellent solvent resistance, with a short-term temperature capability of 374°F and a minimum temperature rating of -40°F.
Static shear performance is rated at 1,000 grams at 72°F and 500 grams at both 150°F and 200°F (weight that ½ square inch will hold for 10,000 minutes). Recommended application temperature is a minimum of 59°F, and full end-strength develops within 72 hours without primer or within 20 minutes when primed.
What differentiates HA7308 from thinner and thicker grades in the AFTC HA73 series?
HA7308 sits in the middle of the series at 0.031" thick, roughly double the thickness of HA7304 and two-thirds the thickness of HA7312. This gauge balances bond-line fill and surface conformance with lower stack height, offering 12 lb/in peel adhesion — higher than HA7304 — while maintaining the same temperature, shear, and environmental ratings as the rest of the family.
Why is peel adhesion important for this application?
Peel adhesion defines the force required to pull the tape away from a substrate at an angle, which is the most common failure mode for edge-bonded trim, attached seals, and panel joints subject to lifting loads.
