Common industries: HVAC and mechanical contracting, commercial and institutional building construction, industrial ventilation.

AP/ArmaFlex Duct Liner/Wrap is a black, flexible, closed-cell elastomeric thermal and acoustical insulation engineered specifically for HVAC ductwork, supplied in sheet and roll form and available with or without a factory-applied pressure-sensitive adhesive. As a fiber-free, closed-cell material, it is designed to safeguard indoor air quality, attenuate HVAC noise, and reduce energy waste, with a service life intended to match that of the mechanical equipment it insulates. The product line is offered in two wall-thickness/polymer configurations: 1/2″ and 1″ (13 and 25 mm) NBR/PVC-based walls, and 1-1/2″ and 2″ (38 and 51 mm) EPDM-based walls carrying a higher maximum service temperature.

The material demonstrates low water vapor permeability and low water absorption (0.2% by volume), supporting condensation control performance in duct applications, and passes mold and fungal growth resistance testing per ASTM G21 and ASTM C1338. Acoustic performance is documented via Sound Absorption Average (SAA) values ranging from 0.38 to 0.51 depending on thickness, and a Sound Transmission Class (STC) of 25 at nominal 1″ thickness. The insulation resists erosion at airstream velocities up to 10,000 ft/min without breaking away, flaking off, or delaminating, and for exterior applications requires painting with a WB finish or other protective jacketing to prevent weather and UV damage. Compliant with GREENGUARD Gold Certification; ASTM C534 Grade 1 Type II (NBR/PVC sheets) and Grade 2 Type II (EPDM sheets); ASTM E84 and UL 723; CAN/ULC S102; City of New York Approval MEA 107-89M; Title 24 California Building Energy Efficiency Standards; MIL-P-15280J, FORM S; ASTM C1534, Type 1; ASTM G21/C1338; ASTM D1056, 2C1; UL 94 File Number E535094; manufacture without CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs, PBDEs, or Formaldehyde; EPA registered MICROBAN® antimicrobial product protection; conformance with the International Mechanical Code (IMC), International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), and International Residential Code (IRC); and ISO 9001 certified quality management systems.

What differentiates AP/ArmaFlex Duct Liner/Wrap from other duct insulation grades?

AP/ArmaFlex Duct Liner/Wrap is offered in two configurations: a 1/2" and 1" (13, 25 mm) NBR/PVC-based construction rated to 220°F (105°C), and a 1-1/2" and 2" (38, 51 mm) EPDM-based AP ArmaFlex FS construction rated to a higher 300°F (150°C) service temperature. As a fiber-free, closed-cell elastomeric material, it also eliminates the fiber shedding associated with fibrous duct insulation, supporting indoor air quality performance that is GREENGUARD Gold Certified.

Why does thermal conductivity matter for HVAC duct insulation?

Thermal conductivity directly determines the energy efficiency of the ductwork system, since a lower λd/k-value reduces heat gain or loss through the duct wall and lowers the R-value needed to meet building energy code requirements. AP/ArmaFlex Duct Liner/Wrap achieves a declared thermal conductivity as low as 0.0353 W/(m·K) at 75°F (24°C), supporting the product's stated role in reducing energy waste.

What is the service temperature range for AP/ArmaFlex Duct Liner/Wrap?

    -297°F to 220°F (-183°C to 105°C) for 3/8" through 1" Walls (NBR/PVC-based), and -297°F to 300°F (-183°C to 150°C) for 1-1/2" and 2" Walls (EPDM-based), per ASTM C534.

    lity-regulated environments?

Yes. The material is 25/50 rated (Flame Spread Index less than 25, Smoke Developed Index less than 50) per ASTM E84, UL 723, and CAN/ULC S102, carries UL 94 File Number E535094, and is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, in addition to City of New York Approval MEA 107-89M and conformance with the International Mechanical Code (IMC), IECC, and IRC.

How should AP/ArmaFlex Duct Liner/Wrap be specified?

Specify grade (AP ArmaFlex Duct Liner/Wrap or AP ArmaFlex FS Duct Liner/Wrap), thickness, adhesive option (with or without factory-applied PSA), compliance requirements, dimensional tolerances, and finished format (sheet or roll).
