- High-temperature pipe, vessel, equipment, and fitting insulation in industrial and process facilities operating to 1200°F
- CUI protection applications requiring best-in-class hydrophobic and breathable aerogel blanket performance
- Insulation systems where A1 Non-combustible fire classification per EN 13501-1 is mandated
- Applications requiring Korean Standard (KS) compliance for toxicity (KS F 2271) and density (KS L 9102)
- Lightweight high-temperature insulation in space-constrained industrial environments requiring the lowest density aerogel blanket in the ArmaGel® family
Common industries: Oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, industrial manufacturing, Korean market regulated facilities.
ArmaGel® HTL is described on the TDS as a highly flexible aerogel insulation blanket that is hydrophobic and breathable, providing best-in-class corrosion under insulation (CUI) protection. It complies with ASTM C1728 Type V, Grade 1A and is designed for insulation and protection of pipes, vessels, equipment, and fittings in industrial and process facilities operating to a maximum of 1200°F.
At 9.5 lb/ft³, ArmaGel® HTL is the lowest density grade in the ArmaGel® product family, contributing to its classification as highly flexible. The Light Gray color distinguishes it visually from the grey ArmaGel® HT and DT grades.
ArmaGel® HTL achieves the highest fire performance classification in the ArmaGel® product line — A1 Non-combustible per EN 13501-1 and ISO 1182 — surpassing the B-s1, d0 rating of ArmaGel® HT and XGC. It also passes KS F 2271 for toxicity, and ASTM C692 for stress corrosion cracking. Fungal growth resistance shows no growth per ASTM C1338 and ASTM G21. The thermal conductivity curve covers four points from 75°F to 572°F.
Flame Spread Index is ≤5 and Smoke Development Index is ≤10 per ASTM E84. Water absorption is ≤8% by weight per ASTM C1763.
Compliant with ASTM C1728 Type V, Grade 1A; ASTM C411; ASTM C447; ASTM C692; ASTM C1338; ASTM C1763; ASTM E84; ASTM G21; EN 13501-1; ISO 1182; KS F 2271; KS L 9102.
What differentiates ArmaGel® HTL from ArmaGel® HT, DT, Rail, and XGC?
ArmaGel® HTL is the only grade in the ArmaGel® family to achieve A1 Non-combustible classification per EN 13501-1 and ISO 1182 — the highest European fire performance rating, surpassing the B-s1, d0 of HT and XGC. It is also the lowest density grade (9.5 lb/ft³) and is described on the TDS as the most flexible. It is the only grade to list KS F 2271 toxicity and KS L 9102 density standards, indicating suitability for Korean-regulated applications. It complies with ASTM C1728 Type V, Grade 1A — a distinct type from HT (Type III) and DT/XGC (Type IV).
Why does thermal conductivity matter when selecting aerogel insulation?
Thermal conductivity determines the insulation thickness needed to achieve a required heat loss limit at operating conditions. At 0.029 W/m·K at 75°F, ArmaGel® HTL delivers effective high-temperature insulation in a thin, highly flexible blanket that can be wrapped around complex geometries including pipes, fittings, and equipment without rigid supports — enabling CUI protection in areas where thicker, less flexible insulation systems would be impractical.
What is the service temperature range for ArmaGel® HTL?
The service temperature maximum for ArmaGel® HTL is 1200°F per ASTM C411 and ASTM C447 as listed on the TDS. No minimum service temperature is listed on the TDS for this grade.
Is ArmaGel® HTL suitable for regulated environments?
Yes. ArmaGel® HTL achieves A1 Non-combustible classification per EN 13501-1 and ISO 1182 — the highest European fire performance classification. It also passes ASTM E84 (Flame Spread Index ≤5; Smoke Development Index ≤10), KS F 2271 toxicity, ASTM C692 stress corrosion cracking, and ASTM C1338/G21 fungal resistance.
How should ArmaGel® HTL be specified?
Specify grade (ArmaGel® HTL), thickness, color (Light Gray), compliance requirements (ASTM C1728 Type V Grade 1A, EN 13501-1 A1, ASTM E84, and others as applicable), dimensional tolerances, and finished format.
