BGT 1/8″ is the thickest grade in H-O Products’ BGT polyethylene glazing tape series, with a total thickness of 129.0 mils and a crosslinked polyethylene foam carrier of 125.00 mils. It is designed for window glazing, cushioning, and vibration damping applications, and is described on the TDS as providing the best conformability, cushioning, and vibration dampening in the BGT series. It can be used as a primary or secondary sealant in conjunction with a bead or caulking compound, and requires no curing or edge trimming after application.
The double-sided permanent acrylic adhesive system delivers peel adhesion of 75 oz/in and shear adhesion exceeding 24 hours at 2.2 psi. Tack is 25 oz per ASTM D2979. Tensile strength is 160 lb/in per PSTC-131 — the highest in the BGT series — and elongation is 210%. The tape exhibits great chemical resistance, low compression set, and a low application temperature. The liner is a 4.5 mil blue HDPE poly liner, distinguished from the 4 mil poly liner used in the thinner BGT grades. Both black and white are available.
