Common industries: Aerospace, electronics and microwave assembly, flex circuit manufacturing, food-contact processing, composite molding, electrical insulation.

DeWAL® DW2000 is an unsupported skived PTFE film manufactured by Rogers Corporation under the DeWAL® brand. Unlike the 6113-05 and 6113-10 PTFE film tapes — which combine a PTFE substrate with an acrylic adhesive — DW2000 is supplied as the PTFE film alone, without adhesive backing or release liner.

This positions it as a base film for converting, lamination, or use in applications where the PTFE itself provides the functional surface (release film, dielectric spacer, composite molding interlayer) without the constraints of a pressure-sensitive adhesive system.

The film carries three meaningful regulatory and industry credentials: ASTM D3308 Type II conformance (the standard specification for PTFE film), SAE AMS 3662C conformance (aerospace material specification for PTFE film), and FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 food-grade compliance (covering perfluorocarbon resins for repeated use as components of articles intended for food contact).

The combination is uncommon — most general-purpose PTFE films carry one or two of these but rarely all three. The film is also held to close tolerance on both width and thickness, supporting precision converting and assembly operations.

Performance characteristics include 260°C (500°F) maximum operating temperature, 2,233–3,066 V/mil dielectric strength (typical 2,598 V/mil) per ASTM D149, dielectric constant of 3.70 and dissipation factor of 0.00025 per ASTM D150 — both supporting use in microwave circuit production. Tensile strength is 40–52 MPa (5,861–7,574 psi) typical 46 MPa per ASTM D882, with 338–417% elongation (typical 390%). Density is 2.15–2.17 g/cc per ASTM D792.

Available in widths from 305 mm to 1,270 mm (12 to 50 inches), on a 76 mm (3″) core, with maximum roll OD of 355 mm (14″). Shelf life is 1 year from date of manufacture stored at 21°C (70°F) and 50% RH.

Compliant with ASTM D3308 Type II, SAE AMS 3662C, and FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 (Food-Grade Indirect Food Contact).

What differentiates DW2000 from the 6113-05 and 6113-10 PTFE film tapes?

DW2000 is an unsupported PTFE film — supplied without adhesive backing — while 6113-05 and 6113-10 are pressure-sensitive tape constructions with acrylic adhesive. DW2000 is also a third-party-branded product (Rogers Corporation DeWAL®) with formal industry credentials: ASTM D3308 Type II, SAE AMS 3662C aerospace specification, and FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 food-grade compliance. The 6113 PTFE tapes do not publish equivalent regulatory credentials. DW2000 is also available in a much broader thickness range (0.0005"–0.040") for converting and lamination applications.

Why is dielectric strength important when selecting this film?

For electrical insulation, microwave circuits, and flex circuit applications, dielectric strength is the primary functional specification. DW2000's 2,598 V/mil typical dielectric strength per ASTM D149 (range 2,233–3,066) confirms strong electrical isolation, and the very low dissipation factor (0.00025) and dielectric constant (3.70) per ASTM D150 support use in high-frequency microwave applications where signal loss must be minimized.

What is the operating temperature range for DW2000?

DW2000 has a maximum operating temperature of 260°C (500°F). The TDS does not publish a minimum service temperature.

Is DW2000 suitable for food-contact, aerospace, or regulated electrical applications?

Yes. The TDS confirms compliance with FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 (food-grade), ASTM D3308 Type II (standard PTFE film specification), and SAE AMS 3662C (aerospace material specification for PTFE film). This combination of credentials supports use across food-contact processing, aerospace assemblies, and regulated electrical applications.

    How should DW2000 be specified?

Specify product (DeWAL® DW2000), thickness (within the 0.0005"–0.040" range), supply width (up to 50 inches), compliance requirements (ASTM D3308 Type II / SAE AMS 3662C / FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 as applicable), dimensional tolerances, and finished format. Note that DW2000 is supplied without adhesive — for adhesive-backed PTFE applications, see 6113-05 or 6113-10.
