    • Anti-squeak and anti-rattle padding in automotive and industrial assemblies requiring highly absorbent white felt
    • Priming pipe cleaning and wire lubrication applications requiring maximum liquid absorption (>400% by weight)
    • Equestrian padding requiring a soft, resilient, high-absorption clean wool felt
    • Filtration and machine packaging where high air permeability (75–150 cfm) and liquid absorption are required
    • Applications where F-5 grade properties are needed in a lower-density, more absorbent white felt

Common industries: Automotive, industrial equipment, equestrian, filtration, machine packaging.

F-10 SAE Pressed Felt is a soft, highly absorbent white/cream pressed wool felt at 15–25 Shore A, rated 5 on a firmness scale of 1–10, and classified as ASTM D2475 18R1. With 95% minimum clean wool content and a nominal specific density of 0.18 g/cm³ — matching the F-11 grade’s density — it provides the highest liquid absorption by weight in the white felt group at >400%, and 88% liquid absorption by volume.

It is intended for anti-squeak/anti-rattle applications, priming pipe cleaning, wire lubrication, equestrian padding, and filtration and machine packaging where maximum liquid absorption and high dynamic stress endurance are required. The TDS notes that F-10 will break down quicker in use than an F-5 and is not suited for demanding precision applications.

Dynamic vibration absorption is rated High; static vibration absorption is Low. Air permeability is 75–150 cfm/sq ft/0.5″ H₂O. NRC is 0.58 at 1 in. Thermal condition is 0.30 btu/hr/sq ft/°F/in.

    Compliant with ASTM D2475 — Classification 18R1.

What differentiates F-10 SAE Pressed Felt from the F-5 and F-11 grades?

F-10 SAE Pressed Felt shares the ASTM D2475 18R classification (18R1) with F-11 (18R2) but uses 95% minimum clean wool content vs. F-11's 87%, providing a white/cream color. It achieves the highest liquid absorption by weight of any white felt in the SAE series (>400%) and the highest dynamic vibration absorption (High vs. Medium–High for F-11). Compared to F-5, it has a lower density (0.18 vs. 0.26 g/cm³), lower tensile strength (225 vs. 400 psi), and higher absorption — and like F-11, the TDS notes it will break down quicker in use than F-5.

Why is hardness important for felt selection in industrial applications?

Hardness in pressed felt governs how the material deforms under load, affecting its performance in padding, filtration, wicking, and vibration absorption applications. F-10's 15–25 Shore A hardness and 4 psi compressibility at 10% deflection make it the softest and most compliant white felt available, appropriate for anti-squeak/anti-rattle padding, equestrian cushioning, and filtration where maximum absorption and conformability outweigh structural durability requirements.

What is the temperature range for F-10 SAE Pressed Felt?

F-10 SAE Pressed Felt is rated for service from -80°F to +200°F (-62°C to +93°C), as listed on the TDS.

Is F-10 SAE Pressed Felt suitable for specification-controlled industrial environments?

Yes. F-10 SAE Pressed Felt is classified as ASTM D2475 18R1 and meets Federal Specification C-F-206G 9R1, as listed on the TDS. Note that the TDS indicates this grade will break down quicker in use than an F-5, and it is intended for less demanding conditions.

How should F-10 SAE Pressed Felt be specified?

Specify grade (F-10 SAE Pressed Felt), thickness, compliance requirements (ASTM D2475 18R1 / C-F-206G 9R1), dimensional tolerances, and finished format.
