GORE® Acoustic Vents for Automotive Microphones are pressure-sensitive adhesive-mounted ePTFE membrane vent components designed to protect exterior-mounted MEMS microphone ports in automotive systems while maintaining acoustic transparency. Available in two variants — AVS 700 (black membrane) and AVS 701 (grey membrane) — both deliver IP6K8 dust and water ingress protection per ISO 20653 at 2 meters for 1 hour, with a minimum Water Entry Pressure (WEP) of ≥ 60 kPa for 30 seconds. Acoustic performance is maintained at less than 2 dB change through 1.5 kHz and less than 3 dB change through 5 kHz.
The ePTFE membrane construction is 100% ePTFE (type AAM1XX) without backing material, treated to be both hydrophobic and oleophobic. The vents bond to PCB or housing substrates via TPA117 acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive and are designed for manual installation. The overall vent thickness for both variants is 0.26 mm nominal. Both variants are validated for automotive durability and manufactured in an IATF-certified facility.
