HyPUR-cel® I1710L
HyPUR-cel® I1710L is a low-resiliency, energy-absorbing open cell polyurethane foam with a typical density of 17 pcf (15–19 pcf tolerance) and a 25% Compression Deflection of 10 psi (8–15 psi tolerance) per ASTM D1056. The “L” designation identifies a formulation with 13% resilience per ASTM D2632 that dissipates impact and vibration energy with fast recovery and low hysteresis loss. The material operates across a service temperature range of -40°F to 250°F, achieves a flammability pass rating per FMVSS-302 at 0.063″ or thicker, and combines 130 psi tensile strength and 16.5 lb./in tear strength with exceptionally low compression set (0.3% per ASTM D1056).

HyPUR-cel® I1710L is a mid-density low-resiliency “L” grade in the HyPUR-cel® I-series, pairing a 17 pcf density with a 25% Compression Deflection of 10 psi. Where a standard I-series grade returns energy on rebound, the L formulation absorbs it: resilience is 13% per ASTM D2632, so the foam damps impacts and vibration and recovers quickly with low hysteresis loss.
Compression set is exceptionally low at 0.3% per ASTM D1056 and 0.75% per ASTM D3574, and the foam retains the excellent high-temperature compression set, superb compression fatigue properties and dimensional stability of the series. Tensile strength of 130 psi, 125% elongation and 16.5 lb./in tear strength support clean die-cutting, and the material accepts adhesive laminations, fabrics, films and custom coatings.
Compliant with FMVSS-302 (Pass @ 0.063″ or thicker).
What differentiates I1710L from I1507L and I2015L within the HyPUR-cel® I-series?
All three are low-resiliency "L" grades with about 13% resilience. I1710L sits between them at 17 pcf and 10 psi Compression Deflection, versus 15 pcf / 7 psi for I1507L and 20 pcf / 15 psi for I2015L, and offers higher tensile strength (130 psi) than I1507L for more demanding fabrication.
What does the "L" in I1710L mean?
Per Rubberlite's naming convention, the first two digits are density (17 pcf) and the last two are 25% compression deflection (10 psi). The "L" identifies a low-resiliency, energy-absorbing product: I1710L has 13% resilience per ASTM D2632, so it dissipates impact and vibration energy with fast recovery and low hysteresis loss rather than rebounding like a standard I-series grade.
What is the service temperature range for I1710L?
I1710L is rated for continuous service from -40°F to 250°F as listed on the Rubberlite property sheet.
Is I1710L suitable for automotive flammability-regulated environments?
Yes. I1710L achieves a pass rating per FMVSS-302 at 0.063" or thicker, making it suitable for automotive interior applications subject to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards flammability requirements.
How should I1710L be specified?
Specify grade (I1710L), thickness, compliance requirements (FMVSS-302 if required), dimensional tolerances, and finished format (roll, sheet or die-cut part), plus any adhesive, film or fabric lamination.
