HyPUR-cel® I2010
HyPUR-cel® I2010 is an open cell polyurethane foam with a typical density of 20 pcf (17–23 pcf tolerance) and a 25% Compression Deflection of 10 psi (7–13 psi tolerance) per ASTM D1056, the softest compression profile in the 20 pcf class of the HyPUR-cel® I-series. The material operates across a service temperature range of -40°F to 250°F and achieves a flammability pass rating per FMVSS-302 at 0.063″ or thicker. I2010 pairs high density with moderate firmness and 160% elongation, making it well suited for sealing, gasketing and cushioning applications that need a durable, dimensionally stable foam without high closure force.

HyPUR-cel® I2010 is the softest grade in the 20 pcf class of the HyPUR-cel® I-series, pairing a 20 pcf density with a 25% Compression Deflection of 10 psi. It is specified when the durability and dimensional stability of a high-density foam are required but the application cannot tolerate the closure force of I2018, I2025 or I2040.
The foam exhibits excellent high-temperature compression set (1.2% per ASTM D1056, 3% per ASTM D3574) and superb compression fatigue properties, maintaining sealing effectiveness through repeated deflection cycles and elevated operating temperatures. Elongation of 160% with 75 psi tensile strength and 11 lb./in tear strength supports conformable installation and clean die-cutting. The material accepts adhesive laminations, fabric bonding, films and custom coatings.
Compliant with FMVSS-302 (Pass @ 0.063″ or thicker).
What differentiates I2010 from the other 20 pcf grades in the HyPUR-cel® I-series?
I2010 is the softest 20 pcf I-series grade at 10 psi Compression Deflection, compared with 15 psi for I2015L, 18 psi for I2018 and I2025, and 40 psi for I2040. It is selected when high density is needed for durability but sealing force must stay low.
Why is compression set critical when selecting a foam for sealing applications?
Compression set measures the permanent deformation a foam retains after being held at a fixed deflection. A low compression set, 1.2% per ASTM D1056 and 3% per ASTM D3574 for I2010, means the material recovers close to its original thickness after deflection and maintains continuous sealing contact over time and across thermal cycles.
What is the service temperature range for I2010?
I2010 is rated for continuous service from -40°F to 250°F as listed on the Rubberlite property sheet.
Is I2010 suitable for automotive flammability-regulated environments?
Yes. I2010 achieves a pass rating per FMVSS-302 at 0.063" or thicker, making it suitable for automotive interior applications subject to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards flammability requirements.
How should I2010 be specified?
Specify grade (I2010), thickness, compliance requirements (FMVSS-302 if required), dimensional tolerances, and finished format (roll, sheet or die-cut part), plus any adhesive, film or fabric lamination.
