HyPUR-cel® I2015L
HyPUR-cel® I2015L is a low-resiliency, energy-absorbing open cell polyurethane foam with a typical density of 20 pcf (17–23 pcf tolerance) and a 25% Compression Deflection of 15 psi (12–18 psi tolerance) per ASTM D1056. The “L” designation identifies a formulation with 13% resilience per ASTM D2632 that dissipates impact and vibration energy with fast recovery and low hysteresis loss. The material operates across a service temperature range of -40°F to 250°F, achieves a flammability pass rating per FMVSS-302 at 0.063″ or thicker, and combines 155 psi tensile strength, 160% elongation and 17.5 lb./in tear strength with an exceptionally low compression set of 0.1% per ASTM D1056.

HyPUR-cel® I2015L is the 20 pcf low-resiliency “L” grade in the HyPUR-cel® I-series, pairing a 20 pcf density with a 25% Compression Deflection of 15 psi. Where a standard I-series grade returns energy on rebound, the L formulation absorbs it: resilience is 13% per ASTM D2632, so the foam damps impacts and vibration and recovers quickly with low hysteresis loss.
Compression set is exceptionally low at 0.1% per ASTM D1056 and 0.85% per ASTM D3574, and the foam retains the excellent high-temperature compression set, superb compression fatigue properties and dimensional stability of the series. Tensile strength of 155 psi, 160% elongation and 17.5 lb./in tear strength are among the highest of the standard-density I-series grades, supporting demanding die-cutting and lamination. The material accepts adhesive laminations, fabrics, films and custom coatings.
Compliant with FMVSS-302 (Pass @ 0.063″ or thicker).
What differentiates I2015L from I2018 and I1710L within the HyPUR-cel® I-series?
I2015L and I2018 are both 20 pcf grades of similar firmness (15 psi versus 18 psi), but I2015L is the low-resiliency energy-absorbing version (13% resilience versus 34% for I2018). Compared with I1710L (17 pcf, 10 psi), I2015L is denser and firmer with higher tensile and tear strength.
What does the "L" in I2015L mean?
Per Rubberlite's naming convention, the first two digits are density (20 pcf) and the last two are 25% compression deflection (15 psi). The "L" identifies a low-resiliency, energy-absorbing product: I2015L has 13% resilience per ASTM D2632, so it dissipates impact and vibration energy with fast recovery and low hysteresis loss rather than rebounding like a standard I-series grade.
What is the service temperature range for I2015L?
I2015L is rated for continuous service from -40°F to 250°F as listed on the Rubberlite property sheet.
Is I2015L suitable for automotive flammability-regulated environments?
Yes. I2015L achieves a pass rating per FMVSS-302 at 0.063" or thicker, making it suitable for automotive interior applications subject to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards flammability requirements.
How should I2015L be specified?
Specify grade (I2015L), thickness, compliance requirements (FMVSS-302 if required), dimensional tolerances, and finished format (roll, sheet or die-cut part), plus any adhesive, film or fabric lamination.
