HyPUR-cel® I2025
HyPUR-cel® I2025 is an open cell polyurethane foam with a typical density of 20 pcf (17–23 pcf tolerance) and a 25% Compression Deflection of 18 psi typical (20–30 psi tolerance as published) per ASTM D1056. The material operates across a service temperature range of -40°F to 250°F and achieves a flammability pass rating per FMVSS-302 at 0.063″ or thicker. I2025 offers a firm compression profile with 160 psi tensile strength and 18 lb./in tear strength, making it well suited for structural gasketing, cushioning and sealing applications that need robust load-bearing capacity with breathability and long-term dimensional stability.

HyPUR-cel® I2025 is a firm, high-density open cell polyurethane foam in the HyPUR-cel® I-series, pairing a 20 pcf density with a typical 25% Compression Deflection of 18 psi. It sits between I2018 and I2040 in the 20 pcf class and is specified for structural cushioning and gasketing where more support is needed than I2010 or I2018 provide but the very high closure force of I2040 is not required.
The foam achieves tensile strength of 160 psi and tear strength of 18 lb./in, supporting demanding fabrication and end-use requirements, together with excellent high-temperature compression set (1% per ASTM D1056, 2.2% per ASTM D3574) and superb compression fatigue properties for reliable shape recovery after sustained loading. The material accepts adhesive laminations, fabric bonding, films and custom coatings.
Compliant with FMVSS-302 (Pass @ 0.063″ or thicker). Note: Rubberlite’s current property sheet (issue date 3/11/24) lists the typical 25% Compression Deflection as 18 psi with a published tolerance of 20–30 psi; contact H-O to confirm the target firmness for critical applications.
What differentiates I2025 from I2018 and I2040 within the HyPUR-cel® I-series?
All three are 20 pcf grades. I2025 has a typical 25% Compression Deflection of 18 psi with a published tolerance of 20–30 psi, placing it above I2018 (18 psi typical, 15–22 psi tolerance) and well below I2040 (40 psi). It also carries higher tensile strength (160 psi) than I2018, making it the choice for firmer structural gasketing and cushioning.
Why is compression set critical when selecting a foam for sealing applications?
Compression set measures the permanent deformation a foam retains after being held at a fixed deflection. A low compression set, 1% per ASTM D1056 and 2.2% per ASTM D3574 for I2025, means the material recovers close to its original thickness after deflection and maintains continuous sealing contact over time and across thermal cycles.
What is the service temperature range for I2025?
I2025 is rated for continuous service from -40°F to 250°F as listed on the Rubberlite property sheet.
Is I2025 suitable for automotive flammability-regulated environments?
Yes. I2025 achieves a pass rating per FMVSS-302 at 0.063" or thicker, making it suitable for automotive interior applications subject to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards flammability requirements.
How should I2025 be specified?
Specify grade (I2025), thickness, compliance requirements (FMVSS-302 if required), dimensional tolerances, and finished format (roll, sheet or die-cut part), plus any adhesive, film or fabric lamination.
