HyPUR-cel® S2015

HyPUR-cel® S2015 is an open cell polyurethane foam with a typical density of 20 pcf (17–23 pcf tolerance) and a 25% Compression Deflection of 15 psi (12–18 psi tolerance) per ASTM D1056, the highest density and firmness in the HyPUR-cel® S-series. The material operates across an extended service temperature range of -67°F to 250°F and exhibits exceptional elongation of 500% with 300 psi tensile strength and 45 lb./in tear strength. S2015 is thermoformable and suited for applications requiring a firm, high-density conformable foam with outstanding stretch, structural integrity and dimensional stability across a wide temperature range. Properties are published by Rubberlite as provisional typical values.

HyPUR-cel® S2015 is the highest-density and firmest grade in the HyPUR-cel® S-series. At 20 pcf with a 25% Compression Deflection of 15 psi, it delivers the greatest structural support in the series while retaining the thermoformability, exceptional stretch and extended low-temperature service capability that characterize S-series foams.

The foam achieves 500% elongation per ASTM D3574, tensile strength of 300 psi and tear strength of 45 lb./in, the highest mechanical values in the series, providing strong fabrication performance alongside outstanding stretch for conformable fit over complex geometries. Compression set of 4% per ASTM D1056 (6% max) and resilience of 35% per ASTM D2632 are as published. The thermoformable construction allows heat-shaping for contoured applications, and the material accepts laminations, fabrics, films and custom coatings.

Rubberlite publishes S2015 as provisional typical properties (issue date 3/19/24). No flammability rating or compliance standards are listed on the current sheet; contact H-O for the latest data or application-specific testing.

What differentiates S2015 from S1508 and other S-series grades?

S2015 is the densest and firmest S-series grade at 20 pcf and 15 psi Compression Deflection, compared with 15 pcf / 8 psi for S1508, and it carries the highest tensile strength (300 psi), tear strength (45 lb./in) and elongation (500%) in the series. It is specified when a thermoformable, high-stretch foam must also provide firm structural support.

Why is thermoformability important for S-series foam applications?

Thermoformability allows the foam to be heat-shaped into contoured or three-dimensional configurations without adhesive lamination or complex tooling. Combined with S2015's 500% elongation, this is particularly valuable in body-contact cushioning, padding and gasketing where the part must follow a curved surface.

What is the service temperature range for S2015?

S2015 is rated for continuous service from -67°F to 250°F as listed on the Rubberlite property sheet. The -67°F lower limit distinguishes the S-series from standard I-series grades and makes it suitable for cryogenic and low-temperature sealing.

Is S2015 rated for flammability or other compliance standards?

No flammability rating or compliance standards are listed on the manufacturer's current property sheet for S2015. Flame retardant and anti-microbial additives are available depending upon volume, and H-O can arrange application-specific testing.

    How should S2015 be specified?

Specify grade (S2015), thickness, dimensional tolerances, and finished format (roll, sheet or die-cut part), plus any adhesive, film or fabric lamination.
