HyPUR-cel® T2040
HyPUR-cel® T2040 is an open cell polyurethane foam with a typical density of 20 pcf (17–23 pcf tolerance) and a 25% Compression Deflection of 40 psi per ASTM D1056. The material operates across a service temperature range of -40°F to 250°F. T2040 delivers exceptional tensile strength of 240 psi and tear strength of 32 lb./in at a high-load compression profile, making it suited for the most demanding structural cushioning, gasketing, and thermoformed applications requiring elevated mechanical performance and long-term dimensional stability.

HyPUR-cel® T2040 is the highest-density, highest-firmness grade in the HyPUR-cel® T-series. At 20 pcf with a 25% Compression Deflection of 40 psi, it is engineered for the most demanding structural cushioning, industrial gasketing, and thermoformed assemblies where no lower-density T-series grade can provide sufficient load resistance.
The foam achieves tensile strength of 240 psi and tear strength of 32 lb./in — the highest mechanical values in the T-series — combined with 38% resilience per ASTM D2632 and a compression set of 2.3% per ASTM D1056. Elongation of 150% supports thermoforming over complex geometries. The material accepts laminations, fabrics, films, and custom coatings.
What differentiates T2040 from all 15 pcf T-series grades and other lower-load T-series grades within the HyPUR-cel® T-series?
T2040 is the highest-density and firmest grade in the entire T-series at 20 pcf / 40 psi Compression Deflection. It delivers the highest tensile strength (240 psi) and tear strength (32 lb./in) in the series. It is specified when no other T-series grade provides sufficient structural load capacity.
Why is thermoformability important for T-series foam applications?
Thermoformability allows the foam to be heat-shaped into contoured or three-dimensional configurations. This is particularly valuable in automotive interior trim, ergonomic cushioning components, and complex-geometry sealing assemblies where flat sheet material cannot achieve the required form. All T-series grades including T2040 are thermoformable as stated on the TDS.
What is the service temperature range for T2040?
T2040 is rated for continuous service from -40°F to 250°F as listed on the TDS.
Is T2040 suitable for automotive flammability-regulated environments?
No flammability compliance standard is listed on the manufacturer's TDS for T2040. Suitability for flammability-regulated environments should be confirmed through independent testing.
How should T2040 be specified?
Specify grade (T2040), thickness, compliance requirements if applicable, dimensional tolerances, and finished format.
