HyPUR-cel® V20400
HyPUR-cel® V20400 is a viscoelastic open cell polyurethane foam with a typical density of 20 pcf (17–23 pcf tolerance) and a 25% CFD of 9 psi (7–12 psi tolerance) per ASTM D3574. The material delivers very low resilience of 5% with 160% elongation and an exceptionally low compression set of 0.1% per ASTM D1056, operating across a service temperature range of -40°F to 250°F. V20400 is the highest-density and firmest grade in the CFD-rated V-series and is thermoformable, suited for premium body-contact cushioning, structural impact protection and pressure management applications requiring slow force recovery, high load capacity and outstanding shape retention. Properties are published by Rubberlite as provisional typical values.

HyPUR-cel® V20400 is the highest-density grade in the CFD-rated HyPUR-cel® V-series, engineered for premium body-contact cushioning, structural impact protection and pressure management applications that demand high load capacity together with slow force recovery. At 20 pcf with a 25% CFD of 9 psi, V20400 delivers substantially greater load-bearing performance than V15300, V12200 and V10150 while preserving the conformable, viscoelastic character of the line.
The foam exhibits 160% elongation for conformable fit over complex geometries, 100 psi tensile strength and 15 lb./in tear strength for durable fabrication, and an exceptionally low compression set of 0.1% per ASTM D1056 (1% per ASTM D3574), supporting outstanding long-term shape retention under demanding service. The open cell structure allows air and moisture passage, and V20400 is thermoformable for custom contoured part production while remaining dimensionally stable across -40°F to 250°F. The material is available with adhesives, laminated films, fabrics and custom coatings.
Rubberlite publishes V20400 as provisional typical properties (issue date 6/30/25). No flammability rating or compliance standards are listed on the current sheet; contact H-O for the latest data or application-specific testing.
What differentiates V20400 from other CFD-rated HyPUR-cel® V-series grades?
V20400 is the highest-density grade in the CFD-rated V-series at 20 pcf with a 25% CFD of 9 psi, firmer and higher-capacity than V15300 (15 pcf, 5.6 psi CFD), V12200 (12 pcf, 3.5 psi) and V10150 (10 pcf, 2.8 psi), while sharing their 5% resilience and 0.1% compression set per ASTM D1056.
Why is compression set critical for viscoelastic cushioning foams?
Compression set measures the permanent thickness loss a foam retains after extended compression and directly indicates how well a cushion will hold its shape over service life. V20400's 0.1% compression set per ASTM D1056 and 1% per ASTM D3574 indicate outstanding long-term shape retention even under sustained body-contact or structural loads.
What is the service temperature range for V20400?
V20400 is rated for continuous service from -40°F to 250°F as listed on the Rubberlite property sheet.
Is V20400 rated for flammability or other compliance standards?
No flammability rating or compliance standards are listed on the manufacturer's current property sheet for V20400. Flame retardant and anti-microbial additives are available depending upon volume, and H-O can arrange application-specific testing.
How should V20400 be specified?
Specify grade (V20400), thickness, dimensional tolerances, and finished format (roll, sheet or die-cut part), plus any adhesive, film or fabric lamination.
