Common industries: Rail and Mass Transit, Aerospace, Automotive, Electrical and Electronics.

kSil® V-0 70 is a specially formulated 70 Shore A solid silicone elastomer in the kSil® range, designed specifically to satisfy the most demanding flame, rail, and mass transit regulatory requirements. Unlike general purpose solid silicone grades, V-0 70 is formulated to achieve UL 94 V-0 flame rating alongside EN 45545 rail compliance and NFPA 130 mass transit compliance simultaneously — a combination described on the TDS as making it one of the most broadly fire-rated grades in the kSil® range. It is available in grey only.

V-0 70 achieves a tensile strength of 10.2 MPa — the highest tensile strength among the kSil® solid silicone grades covered on this TDS — with an elongation of 320% and a tear strength of 19 N/mm. Compression set is 20% after 24 hours at 150°C per ISO 815. Thermal conductivity is 0.24 W/m·°C per ASTM C518. The material covers both horizontal and vertical FAR 25.853 flame orientations and is also compliant with FMVSS 302 for automotive applications.

Compliant with UL 94 V-0, EN 45545, NFPA 130, FAR 25.853 Horizontal and Vertical, and FMVSS 302.

What differentiates V-0 70 from other 70 Shore A solid silicone grades in the kSil® range?

V-0 70 is specifically formulated to achieve UL 94 V-0 flame rating alongside EN 45545 rail compliance, NFPA 130 mass transit compliance, and coverage of both FAR 25.853 Horizontal and Vertical orientations — a combination not carried by the general purpose US70 grade. It also achieves a higher tensile strength of 10.2 MPa compared to US70's 8 MPa, and is available in grey only rather than multiple colors.

Why is compression set critical for solid silicone elastomers like V-0 70?

Compression set measures the permanent deformation remaining after a material has been held under compressive load at elevated temperature. In fire-rated sealing applications — particularly rail, aerospace, and mass transit — a gasket must maintain contact pressure over the service life of the assembly to ensure the seal remains effective. V-0 70 exhibits a compression set of 20% after 24 hours at 150°C per ISO 815.

What is the operating temperature range for V-0 70?

No discrete operating temperature range is specified on the manufacturer's TDS for V-0 70. The compression set test condition is 150°C. Contact H-O Products for service temperature guidance specific to your application.

Is V-0 70 suitable for flame-rated or regulated environments?

Yes. V-0 70 carries UL 94 V-0 flame rating, EN 45545 rail compliance, NFPA 130 mass transit compliance, FAR 25.853 Horizontal and Vertical aerospace compliance, and FMVSS 302 automotive compliance, making it suited for the most demanding fire-rated sealing environments.

How should V-0 70 be specified?

Specify grade (V-0 70), thickness, compliance requirements, dimensional tolerances, and finished format. Note: this grade is available in gray only.
