ManniGlas® 1200 is a premium grade non-respirable glass fiber paper within the ManniGlas® product family, described on the TDS as a low-cost alternative to silicone and ceramic fiber gasketing materials for applications requiring superior thermal resistance where space is limited.
Manufactured from electrical grade (E glass) glass fibers with non-formaldehyde-based binders, it delivers outstanding dimensional stability, excellent die-cutting properties for intricate shapes and narrow spans, flexibility, and excellent compression resistance. The highly uniform white surface and precise thickness control across all four gauges support demanding gasket fabrication and lamination operations.
The material is available in PSA-coated and slit formats for use as seals and thermal break protection, in addition to standard sheet and roll supply.
Thermal conductivity ranges from 0.22 W/m·K (0.031 BTU in/hr ft²°F) at a mean temperature of 75°C (24°F) to 0.42 W/m·K (0.060 BTU in/hr ft²°F) at 650°C (345°F) per ASTM C177 at 0.125″ thickness. LOI is 6% by weight across all gauges. Standard roll width is 51″ (1295.4 mm); custom roll widths from 2″ (50.8 mm) to 104″ (2641.6 mm) are available. Standard core diameter is 3″ (76.2 mm) ID and standard roll OD is 40″ (1016 mm). Slitting is available custom and palletizing is available upon request.
Compliant with UL 94V-0 (excluding certain specialty grades), ISO 9001:2008, RoHS, and REACH.
What differentiates ManniGlas® 1200 from the ManniGlas® 1900, 1902, and 2000 grades?
ManniGlas® 1200 is specifically positioned as a premium grade alternative to silicone and ceramic fiber gasketing materials and is manufactured from electrical grade (E glass) fibers. Its most significant differentiator is its continuous operating temperature rating of 1200°F (640°C) without shrinkage — higher than the 1100°F continuous / 1200°F excursion rating of the 1900, 1902, and 2000 series. ManniGlas® 1200 also uses a decimal thickness designation system (0.015", 0.030", 0.060", 0.125") rather than fractional inches, includes both imperial and metric dual-unit property data, and lists thermal conductivity in both W/m·K and BTU in/hr ft²°F. Supply format options including PSA-coated strips and defined custom roll width ranges are also unique to this grade's TDS.
Why is compression resistance important for this material?
ManniGlas® 1200 is used in gasket and sealing applications where the material must maintain its thickness and sealing force under bolt load or clamping pressure throughout the service life. The TDS reports excellent compression resistance as a key product feature, and post-compression density values are provided by gauge (8.7 to 12 pcf) to characterize the material's structural response under the specified measurement gauge pressures.
What is the operating temperature range for ManniGlas® 1200?
ManniGlas® 1200 withstands humidity and continuous operating temperatures up to 1200°F (640°C) without shrinkage, as stated on the TDS.
Is ManniGlas® 1200 suitable for flame-rated environments?
Yes. ManniGlas® 1200 meets UL 94V-0 for non-flammability, excluding certain specialty grades, and has an E glass composition with low LOI of 6% by weight satisfying low smoke and odor requirements. It is also RoHS and REACH compliant and ISO 9001:2008 certified.
How should ManniGlas® 1200 be specified?
Specify grade (ManniGlas® 1200), thickness, color (White), compliance requirements, dimensional tolerances, and finished format.
