NP610 Paper Phenolic Laminate Sheet is the NEMA Grade X entry in the paper phenolic laminate line — the highest flexural and tensile strength grade in the paper phenolic family.

With a flexural strength of 34,000 / 28,000 psi (LW/CW) and a tensile strength of 17,000 / 13,000 psi (LW/CW), NP610 delivers significantly higher mechanical strength than the XX and XXX grades at the cost of lower electrical performance, making it the appropriate selection for mechanical applications where strength is the primary driver and electrical insulation is a secondary requirement.

In addition to CNC machining, the material may be hot punched in thicknesses up to 0.093″ — a processing option not available with canvas or linen phenolic grades — offering an economical fabrication route for high-volume punched components.

The temperature index is 130°C electrical / 130°C mechanical and arc resistance is 90 seconds (Condition A). Moisture absorption varies with thickness: 1.80% at 0.0625″ and 0.58% at 0.500″. Electric strength reaches 600 Volts/mil (Condition A). Flammability is rated HB per UL Bulletin 94. NP610 is not UL Listed.

    Compliant with ANSI/NEMA IM 60000-2021 Grade X, MIL-I-24768/12 Type PBM, ASTM D709 Type X, and IEC 60893-3-4 PFCP 201.

What differentiates NP610 Paper Phenolic Laminate Sheet from NP629 (Grade XX) and NP630 (Grade XXX)?

NP610 (Grade X) delivers the highest flexural strength (34,000 / 28,000 psi LW/CW) and tensile strength (17,000 / 13,000 psi LW/CW) in the paper phenolic laminate line, optimized for mechanical applications. NP629 (Grade XX) and NP630 (Grade XXX) are designed for applications requiring progressively better electrical properties — NP630 in particular delivers excellent electrical properties, moisture resistance, low cold flow, and the highest compressive strength (45,000 psi) in the line. NP610 is the only grade in this family that may be hot punched up to 0.093" thickness.

Why does flexural strength matter when selecting a paper phenolic laminate for mechanical applications?

Flexural strength determines how much bending load a laminate panel or machined component can sustain before permanent deformation or fracture. For structural insulation panels, mounting brackets, and mechanical components under sustained or cyclic bending loads, a higher flexural strength provides greater load capacity and safety margin. NP610's flexural strength of 34,000 / 28,000 psi (LW/CW) substantially exceeds that of the XX and XXX grades (22,000 / 17,000–18,000 psi), making it the appropriate selection wherever mechanical load capacity is the governing design criterion.

What is the temperature index for NP610 Paper Phenolic Laminate Sheet?

The temperature index is 130°C electrical / 130°C mechanical, as listed on the Technical Datasheet.

Is NP610 Paper Phenolic Laminate Sheet suitable for military and regulated environments?

Yes. NP610 complies with ANSI/NEMA IM 60000-2021 Grade X, MIL-I-24768/12 Type PBM, ASTM D709 Type X, and IEC 60893-3-4 PFCP 201. NP610 is not UL Listed and carries a UL 94 HB flammability rating. Applications requiring superior electrical properties should specify NP629 (Grade XX) or NP630 (Grade XXX).

How should NP610 Paper Phenolic Laminate Sheet be specified?

Specify grade (NP610 Paper Phenolic Laminate Sheet), thickness, fabrication method (machined or hot punched — hot punching available up to 0.093"), compliance requirements (NEMA Grade X, MIL-I-24768/12, or ASTM D709 as applicable), dimensional tolerances, and finished format.
