Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J 710
Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J 710 is a phlogopite mica paper gasket sheet rated for continuous service at temperatures up to 1000°C (1832°F), with intermittent resistance to 1100°C (2012°F). It withstands a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar and is supplied in sheet form (1000 x 1200 mm) in thicknesses from 0.10 to 3.00 mm. A special pressing process gives Grade 710 higher tensile strength and lower compressibility than the roll-supplied Grade 730 alternative.

Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J is a phlogopite mica paper-based gasket sheet within Cogebi’s line of industrial mica sealing and insulation materials, engineered for sealing applications where temperatures exceed the range of conventional gasket materials. Gaskets made of Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J are used in automobile exhaust manifolds, gas turbines, gas and oil burners, heat exchangers, refineries, the chemical and medical industries, petrochemical processing, turbo generator fuel cells, and other flange connections; it is also used as a filler for spiral wound gaskets and as a material for camprofile seals.
The product is offered in two grades. Grade 710 is produced through a special pressing process that provides better tensile strength and lower compressibility, and is supplied in sheets (1000 x 1200 mm) in thicknesses from 0.10 to 3.00 mm. Grade 730 is supplied in rolls (1000 mm wide, custom lengths) suitable for high-volume production, offering opportunities to minimize waste in punching processes, with slightly lower tensile strength and higher compressibility than Grade 710; it is available in thicknesses from 0.10 to 0.63 mm. Both grades share the same continuous/intermittent temperature rating of <1000°C/<1100°C and maximum pressure rating of 5 bar.
As with other Cogebi mica-based products, Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J is manufactured without asbestos. No compliance standards are specified on the manufacturer’s TDS for this material.
What differentiates Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J 710 from Grade 730?
Grade 710 is produced through a special pressing process that gives it higher tensile strength (20 N/mm²) and lower compressibility than Grade 730 (10 N/mm², roll-supplied), making 710 the preferred choice for sheet-cut gasket applications requiring maximum strength, while Grade 730's roll format minimizes material waste in high-volume punching operations.
Why is high-temperature resistance critical for Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J 710?
Gasket sheets used in exhaust manifolds, gas turbines, and furnace or refinery flange connections must maintain a reliable seal without degrading as temperatures rise. Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J's phlogopite mica base allows continuous service to 1000°C (1832°F) and intermittent exposure to 1100°C (2012°F), well beyond the range of conventional gasket materials.
What is the temperature range for Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J 710?
Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J 710 is rated for continuous service up to 1000°C (1832°F) and intermittent exposure up to 1100°C (2012°F).
Is Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J 710 suitable for regulated environments?
No specific regulatory compliance standards (such as RoHS, UL, or DIN) are listed on the manufacturer's TDS for this grade. The material is manufactured without asbestos, consistent with Cogebi's broader mica product range, but no formal certification numbers are provided on the TDS.
How should Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J 710 be specified?
Specify grade (Phlogopite Gasket Sheet HP5J 710 or 730), thickness, delivery format (sheet or roll), compliance requirements, dimensional tolerances, and finished format.
