PORON® ThinStik®
PORON® ThinStik® is a family of five thin, self-adhesive microcellular polyurethane foam products, each combining a PORON foam layer with an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive on a PET film. Total construction thicknesses range from 0.50 mm (19.5 mil) to 0.76 mm (30 mil) depending on grade. All five grades achieve a maximum compression set of 5% at 23°C (73°F) and 10% at 70°C (158°F), with peel adhesion to stainless steel greater than 3.5 N/25mm. Shelf life is 12 months from date of manufacture.

PORON® ThinStik® is a family of five self-adhesive microcellular polyurethane foam products designed for precision sealing, cushioning, and shock protection in compact electronic assemblies. Each grade combines a PORON polyurethane foam layer with an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive supported on a PET film, creating a ready-to-apply construction for bonding to a wide variety of substrates.
The five grades span shock absorption to ultra-soft sealing: 79TS1-09021 (ShockSeal®), 92TS1-09020 (92-09), 92TS1-12020 (92-12), 15TS1-06021 (Soft Seal), and 15TS1-06030 (Soft Seal). All grades are supplied with a liner that is removed prior to use; the foam is supported on a 2-mil (0.05 mm) release polyester film (PET). Shelf life is 12 months from date of manufacture when stored at room temperature in original packaging in a dry, cool environment.
The acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive is manufactured to Rogers’ specifications. It provides peel adhesion to stainless steel greater than 3.5 N/25mm, tack of 424 grams at room temperature (411 grams after 96 hrs @ 66°C/151°F / 80% RH), and tensile strength of 5.4 kg (12.0 lb) MD at room temperature. The adhesive exhibits high optical clarity, withstands a wide range of temperatures, and is resistant to chemical exposure. Foam compression set is 5% maximum at 23°C (73°F) and 10% maximum at 70°C (158°F) for all five grades.
What differentiates PORON® ThinStik® from standalone PORON® foam grades?
PORON® ThinStik® integrates an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive and PET carrier directly into the foam construction, eliminating the need for a separate adhesive conversion step. Five foam grades spanning shock absorption (79TS1-09021 ShockSeal®) to ultra-soft sealing (15TS1-06030 Soft Seal) are available in total construction thicknesses of 0.50 to 0.76 mm, with a single-step peel-and-apply process for assembly.
Why is compression set critical for a self-adhesive sealing foam?
Compression set determines whether the foam retains its original thickness — and therefore its sealing contact pressure — after sustained compression.
