The capabilities line card is the fastest way to qualify H-O as a supplier: six material capabilities (environmental sealing, EMI/RFI shielding, thermal management, electrical insulation, vibration and acoustics, PSA and tapes), eight in-house converting processes, and the program lifecycle from first drawing review through prototyping, first articles, production inspection and scheduled releases — with the four-item package that turns a requirement into a quote. The one-document vendor qualification: six material capabilities, eight in-house converting processes, the program lifecycle from drawing review to scheduled releases, and the RFQ checklist.

What’s inside

Key topics covered

  • Six material capabilities selected as constructions, not as catalog categories
  • Eight in-house processes: flatbed and rotary die cutting, CNC knife, laser and waterjet cutting, slitting & spooling, profiling & shaping, laminating & coating
  • Process capability table with stock thickness ranges and typical tolerance classes per process
  • How a program moves through H-O: discover, engineer, prototype, develop, manufacture, scale
  • Sampling per ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 at your AQL, or 100% inspection where the drawing requires it
  • First articles in AS9102 format; PPAP documentation to AIAG levels 1–5
  • Compression starting windows, an example drawing note, and the best first RFQ package
Questions this document helps answer

Before you send the RFQ

What does H-O actually run in-house?

Eight converting processes, all in Winsted, CT: flatbed die cutting (through-cut, kiss-cut, score, perforate), rotary die cutting with in-line lamination and slitting, CNC knife cutting straight from DXF/DWG, CNC laser cutting of laser-compatible thin films, abrasive and pure-water waterjet cutting, slitting and spooling, profiling and shaping (skiving, splitting, beveling, contours), and laminating with single- and double-sided PSA plus zone and pattern adhesive coating. Extruded profiles, molded parts, cleanroom converting and sterile-barrier packaging come through a partner network and are always identified as such.

What quality documentation comes with production parts?

Packing list on every shipment; Certificate of Conformance by default for aerospace, defense and medical work; Certificate of Analysis when specified on the PO; dimensional inspection data with gauge calibration IDs; and two-way lot traceability from raw roll to shipped lot. PPAP packages to AIAG levels 1–5 and AS9102-format first articles are available per program.

How does a new program start?

Send a drawing (DXF, DWG, STEP or PDF), a sample or a written requirement. Engineering reviews the construction — material, adhesive, liner, tolerance, delivery format — and flags anything that will not manufacture cleanly before a die is built. The best first package adds environment, construction targets, and prototype plus annual quantities.

What volumes does H-O support?

Prototype quantities through full production runs are equally accepted; MOQ varies by material and part. Programs scale into blanket orders, JIT releases, kanban and vendor-managed inventory structures, with engineering-change support and production history retained.
