Product Overview
MF1 Firm — Technical Overview & FAQs
Product Overview
MF1 Firm is the firmest grade within the MF1 series of silicone foams. It offers maximum structural stability, higher load-bearing capacity, and retains the fire/smoke performance and temperature resilience of the MF1 line. It is ideal for applications where firmness, thickness retention and durability under load are critical.
Applications
Heavy-duty seat cushion bases, structural pads or vibration mounts
Sealing or gasketing where firm contact and long life are required
Industrial or transportation assemblies exposed to heavy loading and environmental stress
Performance Advantages
MF1 Firm has a density around 7.0 lb/ft³, compression force deflection around 0.6-1.8 psi (depending on specification), very low compression set (~1.5%), and retains shape and firmness over long service life. It meets UL94 V-0/HF-1, FMVSS-302 and is usable across a wide temperature range (-67 °F to +392 °F).
Key Properties
Density approximately 7.0 lb/ft³. Compression force deflection ranged 0.6-1.8 psi. Compression set about 1.5% after 22 hours at 212 °F at 50% compression. Tensile strength ~13.5 psi. Elongation ~35%. The material passes low temperature flex to -67 °F and is rated for continuous use to ~392 °F.
FAQs
What is MF1 Firm?
The firmest grade in the MF1 silicone foam family, designed for high-structure cushioning, sealing and vibration isolation with excellent fire/smoke and temperature performance.
Where is MF1 Firm used?
In heavy-duty cushions, structural pads, vibration mounts, industrial seating, gaskets or assemblies subject to loading, cycling or long-term use.
What distinguishes MF1 Firm from the other MF1 grades?
It has higher density (~7 lb/ft³), higher firmness (compression force ~0.6-1.8 psi), and is designed for greater structural integrity while retaining the same FST and temperature stability as the softer grades.
What fire, smoke and temperature ratings does it meet?
It supports continuous use up to ~392 °F, passes UL94 V-0/HF-1, FMVSS-302 and low-temperature flex to about -67 °F.
Can MF1 Firm be converted to custom parts?
Yes, it is available in large blocks which can be skived, machined, die-cut or shaped into cushions, pads, gaskets or structural components.
