Product Overview

MF1 Medium — Technical Overview & FAQs

Product Overview
MF1 Medium is the medium-firmness grade of the MF1 series of silicone foams. It balances cushioning comfort with greater structural integrity, offering a versatile solution for sealing or vibration isolation where slightly firmer foam is desired.

Applications

Cushioning panels or seat pads that require moderate firmness
Sealing and gasketing in equipment enclosures where both softness and stability are needed
Vibration and shock isolation pads with moderate loading

Performance Advantages
MF1 Medium has density around 6.0 lb/ft³, compression force in the ~0.4-1.5 psi range, low compression set (~1.5%), excellent FST resistance, and temperature stability up to ~392 °F. It offers greater firmness than the Soft grade while retaining foam benefits.

Key Properties
Density approximately 6.0 lb/ft³. Compression force deflection around 0.4-1.5 psi. Compression set ~1.5% after 22 hours at 212 °F at 50% compression. Tensile strength ~12.5 psi. Elongation ~45%. Thermal conductivity ~0.037 W/m·K uncompressed. Passes low-temperature flex at -67 °F.

FAQs

What is MF1 Medium silicone foam?
A medium-firm cellular silicone foam designed for applications requiring moderate cushioning, sealing or vibration isolation with fire/smoke resistance.

Where is MF1 Medium typically used?
In cushioning panels, seal gaskets, vibration pads or assemblies where more structure than the soft grade is required, yet weight and FST metrics remain important.

What differentiates MF1 Medium from the Soft grade?
It has higher density (~6 lb/ft³ vs ~5 lb/ft³), higher compression force (~0.4-1.5 psi vs ~0.2-1.2 psi), offering greater firmness while maintaining the same high temperature and fire-safety performance.

What fire and temperature ratings does MF1 Medium meet?
Continuous use up to ~392 °F, low-temperature flex to -67 °F, and fire/smoke ratings include UL94 V-0 / HF-1 and compliance with FMVSS-302 and other standards.

Can MF1 Medium be customized?
Yes, available as large silicone foam blocks that can be skived, die-cut or machined into custom cushions, gaskets or vibration pads.
