Isolation gaskets are used to isolate two disparate materials, i.e. separate steel from aluminum or carbon fiber from steel/aluminum to prevent Electrolysis (Corrosion of two metals when coming in contact with an electrolyte such as water/moisture). Isolation gaskets are also used to prevent noise transmission in a sound proof enclosure.
