SCE41B Neoprene Foam — Technical Overview & FAQs
What is SCE41B?
SCE41B is a soft, closed-cell neoprene/EPDM/SBR foam pad designed for applications requiring vibration reduction, sound dampening, and weather-proof gasketing. It’s engineered for durability across a wide temperature range and passes FMVSS-302 flame ratings.
Where is SCE41B typically used?
Load-bearing vibration and acoustic isolation in wall assemblies and construction systems
Weather-proofing gaskets for skylights, doors, windows, hatches, and cleanroom enclosures
Cushioning pads in sports or equipment mounting requiring soft compression performance
What makes SCE41B different?
Closed-cell structure prevents moisture ingress and water absorption (max 10 %)
Soft compression deflection (2-5 psi @ 25 %) enables low-force sealing and isolation
Wide service temperature: from –40 °F up to +200 °F
Passes FMVSS-302 flammability requirement (in specified thickness)
Offers durability in weather, ozone and UV exposure
How does the foam perform mechanically?
With a density of 4-8 lb/ft³ and a tensile strength of 75 psi (ASTM D412), SCE41B delivers consistent performance under repeated compression. Compression set is rated at max 40 % (ASTM D1056) which supports long-term sealing and isolation.
Can it be supplied with adhesive backing or custom sizes?
Yes — SCE41B is available in standard sheet and roll formats, multiple thicknesses (1/16 in – 1 in), and with optional adhesive backings (both acrylic and rubber PSA) or no adhesive, depending on installation requirements.
