SCE42B Neoprene Foam — Technical Overview & FAQs
What is SCE42B?
SCE42B is a medium-soft closed-cell Neoprene/EPDM/SBR foam gasket material engineered for demanding sealing, gasketing, vibration-dampening and weather-proofing applications. It blends the strengths of three rubber polymers to deliver durability, performance and reliability.
Where is SCE42B typically used?
Sealing and gasketing around doors, windows, hatches and cleanrooms in construction or industrial settings.
Weather-proofing of skylights, curtain walls, exterior panels and wall assemblies.
Vibration and sound isolation in wall or equipment systems using foam gasketing.
What makes SCE42B different?
Closed-cell structure resists water absorption (≤10 %) and prevents moisture ingress.
Wide functional temperature range of –40 °F to +200 °F, with intermittent capability up to +250 °F.
Flammability-tested: passes FMVSS-302 (for thickness ≥0.098”) and listed UL 94 HF-1.
Compression deflection at 25 % is 5–9 psi, making it responsive yet stable under load.
Available in multiple thicknesses (1⁄16" to 1") and standard black color.
How does SCE42B perform over time?
With a maximum 40 % compression set and minimal change in compression deflection after oven aging (±30 %), SCE42B maintains sealing integrity over repeated cycles and long service life.
Can SCE42B be die-cut or supplied with adhesive?
Yes — it is available in roll form, fabricated die-cut gaskets, and can include pressure-sensitive adhesive backing where specified.
