SCE45B Neoprene Foam Tape — Technical Overview & FAQs
What is SCE45B?
SCE45B is a firm, closed-cell neoprene/EPDM/SBR foam tape designed for sealing, cushioning, vibration reduction and weatherproofing in demanding industrial, construction, and outdoor environments.
Where is SCE45B typically used?
Vibration and sound isolation in wall assemblies and structural panels.
Weather-proofing joints, skylights, doors, windows, and hatches.
Gasketing and tape applications requiring strong compression resistance and long-term durability.
What makes SCE45B different from other foam tapes?
Compression deflection at 25%: 17-25 psi, density 10-14 lb/ft³ — firm foam that resists deformation.
Closed-cell structure with water absorption maximum 5 % ensures moisture resistance.
Service temperature from –40 °F up to 150 °F (with intermittent use to ~250 °F) and flame rating FMVSS-302 / UL 94 HF-1.
Available in thicknesses from 1/16″ up to 1″ and optionally with adhesive backing for installation ease.
How does SCE45B perform over time?
After aging, the compression deflection changes by ±30 % (maximum) and compression set is limited to 25% (max), so it retains performance in long-term service.
Is SCE45B available in different formats and adhesive types?
Yes — it is supplied in roll/tape form, can be supplied with various pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) options or no adhesive, and custom widths to fit your installation requirements.
