Product Overview
UL-94 20 PPI Reticulated Foam — Technical Overview & FAQs
Product Overview
UL-94 20 PPI Reticulated Foam is a medium-coarse open-cell polyurethane foam engineered for airflow management, filtration efficiency, acoustic damping, and flame safety.
With 20 pores per inch (PPI), this foam maintains a balanced structure that provides higher particulate capture than 10 PPI foam while preserving excellent airflow for HVAC, electronics, and appliance applications.
This material is UL 94 HF-1 flame rated, meaning it is self-extinguishing, has low flame spread, and meets critical fire-safety requirements for enclosed electrical and mechanical systems.
Its uniform reticulated network also provides vibration absorption, lightweight cushioning, and strong durability when exposed to humidity, dust, and repeated air movement.
Applications
HVAC panel filters and air-intake systems
Electronic equipment ventilation and dust screens
Appliance filtration and acoustic panels
Automotive and small engine air filtration
Industrial blowers, compressors, and cooling units
Sound attenuation pads and airflow buffers

FAQs
What is UL-94 20 PPI Reticulated Foam used for?
It is used for air filtration, ventilation, acoustic buffering, and dust control in HVAC systems, appliances, electronics, and industrial machinery that require UL 94 HF-1 flame safety.
What does 20 PPI mean?
PPI = pores per inch.
20 PPI foam offers a medium-coarse structure, providing an ideal balance between airflow and filtration efficiency.
Is 20 PPI foam flame-rated?
Yes — it meets the UL 94 HF-1 rating, meaning it is self-extinguishing, demonstrates controlled flame spread, and is safe for electrical and enclosed systems.
Can this foam be fabricated or laminated?
Absolutely — it can be die-cut, laminated, CNC-profiled, PSA-backed, or formed into custom assemblies for filtration, acoustic, or mechanical applications.
Does it perform well in humid or dusty environments?
Yes — reticulated polyether foam is known for excellent humidity resistance, fast drying, and long-term structural stability, making it ideal for HVAC and outdoor-exposed systems.
